Why Is Massage Important?

Understanding the Benefits and Limitations of Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is a powerful tool for reducing pain, enhancing range of motion, and treating a variety of chronic conditions. It works by loosening soft tissue and alleviating active trigger points, which eases the tension in joints, allowing them to move more freely. This therapy is especially effective for conditions such as Tennis and Golfer’s elbow, ITB Syndrome, Carpal Tunnel, and others, making it a versatile treatment option for various ailments.

Chronic pain develops over time and typically cannot be resolved with a single massage session, particularly for individuals engaged in repetitive work activities. Regular massage sessions are crucial for managing chronic pain effectively, improving overall mobility, and maintaining long-term health and wellness. Establishing a routine of consistent massage therapy can yield significant benefits, helping to keep chronic conditions at bay and enhance quality of life.

I’ve been receiving massages from Kim for close to 15 years, including through my pregnancy. While she has changed locations during that time, the superior quality of her massages have stayed that same. Her current location is quiet, warm and inviting. The music, scents and dim lighting put you in a relaxed mood from the moment you walk in. I believe that her background allows her a deeper understanding of anatomy than some. She always checks in to determine what areas you would like focused on and any issues you may have been having that need a little extra attention. The massage table is warmed and can be made warmer or cooler for your comfort. She has a selection of aromatherapy scents that she will mix into the massage oil if you prefer. I’ve always had a full body treatment and leave feeing refreshed and relaxed. If you like a deeper massage, she has strong hands and can perform that as well. She provides you with bottled water at the end of your session since post therapy hydration is so important. I’ve given gift certificates to friends and family for massages by her since I think she is the best!
I’m so thankful to have found Kim and look forward to many more hours of massage bliss 💆.

Been seeing Kim for many years now for back pain. She is the best of the best! Highly recommend!

Megan Smith

I highly recommend Tranquil Tymes LLC. Kim is the best. We had some health challenges in the family over the past few years. I was a bit more stressed than I'd like to admit. I started going to see Kim every two weeks. It is one of the best things I could have done for myself. You need to take care of yourself so you can be there for others.

Bob Molnar

I have been seeing Kim for years. Once she started offering Reiki, I knew I had to not only continue getting my monthly massage, but also try out Reiki which by the way is a must. Professional, friendly and considerate.

Kelly Chamberlain

Kim is fantastic! Great energy and super friendly personality.

Sean Murphy

Absolutely amazing experience. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking about having energy work done.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of our most asked questions. Feel free to ask anything else.

  • What should I expect during my first massage visit?

Everyone starts off with a brief intake of their health and background. Afterwards, I will begin by asking you general questions to establish what areas you would like worked on. If there are any conditions needing to be addressed, it will determine if a massage is appropriate for you. I may perform certain assessments and testing to evaluate your condition and to see if you have any presenting complaints.

It is important to list all health concerns and medications so I may adapt the session to your specific needs without harm. It is also important to list any allergies so that I am aware if I need to use a different oil or lotion during the session.

  • This depends on the type of massage and depth of the strokes. A light, relaxing massage that doesn’t probe very deep into the muscles shouldn’t hurt. With that being said, there is a “feels good” hurt and an “ouch, stop it” hurt. A good massage, even a really deep tissue one should always stay in the “feels good” hurt range. You should always let me know if you are experiencing pain beyond that of the normal level.

  • Sure, if you like go right ahead. The important thing to remember is that this treatment is all about you relaxing and enjoying the experience. Many therapists discourage talking in hopes that you will relax and let your mind float free and enter a state of massage bliss.  In many instances, people may feel more relaxed staring off talking and as the massage progresses, enter quiet states of relaxation.

  • Honestly, everyone is different, and everyone has a unique condition that might be different from someone else. It may take one session, or it may take several. You and I will be able to talk more specifically about this after your first session and have had the chance to evaluate your body’s tissues.

  • Currently I accept checks, cash, Square and Venmo.

  • Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage.
